High- Five for 10k
Foggy and Foggy. Today is the last 10k a.m. humpday of spring and it’s Juneteenth, the day that all the slaves were emancipated. They ran to freedom, they ran away from oppression. Here I am running into the fog and I run for my mental, spiritual, and emotional health. I guess that is a way that I am running towards my freedom.
As I ran in the fog, something awesome happened. I ran past a young Latina woman, which I normally don’t see. Instead of the smile and head nod she stuck out her hand to give me a high- five as we passed each other. Yes, sista girl! That was so kick ass! That was my extra motivation for the next three miles on a 10k a.m. run.
It’s a good day
