Friday Art and Run
Last night was the Graduate Graduation. Normally I would not go because we do not have a graduate program in Sociology here. I went because I wanted to see Tarana Burke, the founder of #MeTooMovement and Just Be Inc. After the ceremony there was a reception that I had to go to, of course. It was a pretty late and engaging night.
This morning I wanted to sleep in and not run. I thought if I can just do a mile, then that is good. My need to be motivated took me to the Seaport area of Boston. At 5:45am it was busy with all kind of men folk around . All the construction workers, foremen, groundworkers, maintenance workers, etc. I was able to run and find spaces without all the men folk for a Friday a.m. 5k. As I ran, I saw little nuggets of arts on my route. The Seaport area is a place that I hadn’t been in a while because they just keep building and building. It’s becoming more of an entertainment planned “ constructed community”. To find these nuggets was a nice surprise.
Because I could feel the rain coming in my knees, as well as smell it in the air, the 5k was a good place to stop. Tomorrow, I’ll have a long run before going to the undergraduate graduation.
