Last Friday a.m run of 2019
Whoot- whoot! 3P6 degrees for the last Friday a.m. run of 2019! I can’t even believe we are here. The last Friday? I took myself to the Mystic River Reservation for this run. I planned on 5 miles but I did 4.35 miles which is more miles than I did yesterday. I actually had on too much clothing because I got hot. Hot in the winter. ).
This run combined all the things I enjoy about running. I was in an urban environment and I was in nature. Not too much nature but just enough. It was early in the morning and there were not too many people around. I had a nice stride. I’m still around the 10:30 min/mile which is fine. The good is that I was able to run without left knee pain and I didn’t have to pop any pills. I’m still working on the fuel because I got tired but I was able to hold out longer than I thought.
To add to the last Friday of the year, it’s the second day/ principle of Kwanzaa : 'Kujichagulia' in the Swahili language, which means 'Self Determination'. define, create, speak for, and name ourselves. On this journey I have defined and told my narrative and truth about what a runner should look like, act like, and be like.
I was reflecting, running, and just taking in all the things I saw on my run.
