Yoga, wine, and food
Trying some new things before the year is over. New things being yoga. I know they have yoga for runners and I’ve been thinking about it, but yoga really isn’t my thing. I do my PT exercises and I’m trying to do more stretching for this knee. But when I saw yoga and wine I became interested. 45 minutes of yoga and an hour of 5 different wine tastings and food. Well, this was the perfect time to try yoga.
The event was held at City Winery at 11 a.m on a Saturday. My buddy and fellow runner was totally game to join me. Both of us feel the same way about yoga. We tried it. It was kind of like hot yoga. There was a fireplace and we were surrounded by barrels of wine as we lay on our yoga mats. Maybe not completely like hot yoga.
The instructor was late, so while we waited we got a free tour and wine samples before yoga. HELLO!!!!
Then there was Yoga. Some positions and moves I could do, some I couldn’t. I wasn’t always sure what was going on . But, hey I was in the game. At one point, the instructor did a bad black girl no-no. She came over and touched my hair. She took it upon herself to wipe my hair from my forehead.
What I later found out from my Yoga people, she should have asked permission to touch and permission to make adjustments to our bodies to correct our form. She didn’t ask me or my friend as we are trying to do yoga.
The experience overall was good. There were 20 people in the room and we had unlimited tastings of the wine afterwards. Ohh and we got free shirts.
Later my friend Liz and I went out to continue the post holiday festivities with more cocktails and meeting new people.
