Running is social, cultural, and political
Monday a.m. 5k run feels like a lovely fall day. This morning I didn't over dressed and had on my running shorts...whoot whoot. As I was running I ran into the reminder to vote on Tuesday Nov 7th .
Fuel for thought: How many miles did folks have to walk or run into order to get justice. How many athletes, runners scarified their scholarships, monies, representation because of social injustice or social unrest.
How can you talk about running and not talk about the interconnects of culture, social, and political events that have shaped people who run and the running industry.
I know that tomorrow morning when I run, my sneakers will take me to the voting polls.
