Sunday Island Run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Well, what happened was…….. I wanted to go running Saturday morning but I didn’t have the energy. I knew Saturday was the cooler of the mornings over the weekend. I was a mess. I didn’t have the energy, I didn’t know where to run. Should I run around Deer Island or the Esplande? Everyone that is in training ran 7 or 8 miles on Saturday. I should too. These were all my thoughts because the struggle is always real. I didn’t. I opted to get things moving on Sunday. I’ll do 7 miles on Sunday.
On Saturday at noon, my Iowan mother passed away. She was in hospice care. For the last week, the Iowan and I have been having early morning and late night conversations. Unfortunately, I understand what he is going through. All the emotions and feelings.
So today, I knew I had to go for a run. I’ll leave on Wednesday to be with him and his family. I needed to run for me and get my physical and mental health in order. The plan was 7 miles around Deer Island. I was up by 5a.m. but didn’t leave until 6 a.m. Yes, it was 71 degrees but it was humid. For me, it was getting late in the morning. I have so much to before I leave. I did manage 4 miles this morning. I kept it moving. I know I will have to do 7 miles at some point soon. I do have a half marathon to train for. That didn’t happen today. Today was a good strong 4 miles. I’m winning.
