July Track Tuesday a.m. Workout
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
The first Tuesday in July was 4th of July, so no track. Today, is a new Tuesday. It’s the first Tuesday Track a.m. workout of July. It’s been a while and I felt a bit track rusty. Plus we’ve had nothing but hardcore rain. Today when I left my house it was cool, crisp, and clean. I didn’t want to jinks anything. I had chill bumps and the hairs on my arms were standing up. Before I even challenged myself on the track, I challenged myself getting to the track. The Sumner Tunnel is closed for 8 weeks. That’s my way to Cambridge and my way of getting off the island, where I live. I know it will take longer to get places. I tried the Williams tunnel to get to track. I planned to get up early plus back a bag because there was no coming home after track.
At 5:35a.m. when I left, Track starts at 6:34, their was a bit of a small grind lock entering the tunnel with merging traffic. After 5 mins or so, things got going. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. Then again it was 5 something in the morning. What would usually take me 10mins took 30. So noted.
It was great to see my track people. Some I saw on Saturday for the community run. Always, around 6:30 is when everyone shows up. We did 9- 300s. No water breaks. We kept moving. This was interesting. I actually felt the difference between a 1 mile, 5k, and 10k pace. This showed me I need to work on endurance. My ass got tired. I felt strong and my body could do it but I was tired. Again, this could be my issue with nutrition and hydration. I think I’m taking care of the car maintenance but not putting enough gas in it.
