10 miler Saturday
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Today was a miler day. I have to get ready for the BAA half marathon in 30 days. The last time I ran 10 miles was in Hawaii in June for my last half marathon. So I’m a bit rusty. I know I can run 10 miles around the Charles Esplanade. Today is the perfect fall morning. I might have over dressed. I made sure to put on my fuel vest with water and snacks.
I parked in front of Hayden library at MIT and ran down memorial drive by Central Square and Harvard. As I ran I saw a lot of rowers in the water and people walking around. This was at 7a.m. in the morning.
Four miles down, then I turned on Storrow drive. This was a bit of a challenge. It took until mile 2 when I felt warmed up. Mile six I was back in Boston. I felt a bit tired. Mile 8 I passed the Esplanade. Mile 9 I crossed the Salt and Pepper bridge and was back to MIT.
To Make it to Mile 10, I ran around Cambridgeport by REI for the last mile.
It was a good day to run but it was a challenge. I stopped and walked a couple of times. My body felt fine but my fuel and energy was low. Note to self…the only going struggle. I need to properly fuel and hydrate. From here on out, I will run 10 miles every Saturday until the race. Lessons learn. Miles run, Morning appreciate.
