Saturday Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Day two of easing back into running. I wanted to run in places that I haven’t for a while because I was walking. One of my favorites is around the Charles River Esplanade. I had to remind myself that it is Saturday and it’s ok to sleep in a bit late. Monday I’ll be up by 4 a.m. for the 6th annual Birthday Diva run. We’ll discuss that on Monday.
I felt inspired today to do more than a 5k after watching Serena Williams play in her final match last night. Three hours of a court battle which lead to three sets of tennis. She was not going down with a fight. I wanted to translate some of that fight to my run and maybe an extra mile.
I’m still waking my body back up to running after a month. I stretched and started my run from the Cambridge, MIT side, made it over to the Boston side of the Esplanade and then crossing the Mass Ave bridge to get back to Cambridge.
When I ran it was around 7ish a.m. Which is late for me. It was sunny and all the runners, walkers, new to Boston and returning folks were all on the Esplanade. It was a bit crowded out there. I kept on going.
I ran 4. 40 miles around 10:43 pace which took 47 mins/ 10 secs. My goal is to work on my running, so by Sept. 10th for the Road to Wellness 5k, I’ll be in 5k race ready shape.
Happy to run my way, at my pace. This is my Phrase I: The Build.
