Friday foggy 8 miler
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
I haven’t been keeping up with my runs. This is graduation week and trying to pack and get ready week. Thursday this week started the COVID, spread out 5 graduation ceremonies. Two on Thursday, one on Friday, and two on Saturday. As Chapter President, I have to say some words and be on stage. This week the Iowan and I have to get ready for states #48 and #49 because we leave on Sunday. Life.
Plus, I’m trying to get a writing draft out to the editor before I go. Again, Life.
Yesterday, I didn’t feel like running, thou I should have because it was my 9 year anniversary of my first race. May 19, 2013- The Harpoon 5 miler. I’ve come a long ways in 9 years. Three marathons, over 55 half marathons, 47 halfs in 47 states, not bad. :)
This morning I had sure I had to run. Now thinking about it, I should have ran 9 miles to celebrate. But I ran 8 and I’ll take it. Today is was a foggy and cool 56 degrees out. I wanted to enjoy it because Saturday and Sunday it will be in the mid- 90s.
I felt a bit heavy running this morning. I don’t think the glasses of wine, and those damn good lemon poppy short bread cookies didn’t help the lightness of running this morning. Oh and the meatballs. I own it, I own all of it.
Today I was a bit slower but I ran. I didn’t do my stretches, which was a no- no.
At 5:30a.m. I was running in my neighborhood. Taking in the fog and running the streets. I ran over a couple of bridges and ran into Chelsea to the Mary O’Mallery Park. I needed to have more energy, I know that bad nutrition adds to that- Again, I own all of it.
I ran into my stalkers- geese, ducks, and rabbits while running. Seems like I can’t run without them.
