Sunday 7 miler
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
I over did something on crossfit Friday. My knee was hurting. Too many squats perhaps. My knee pain in on my left knee, the Hoffa Fat Pad Knee. After a Saturday’s rest, Sunday it was on. I wanted to have a long run, since last week I was off my route because of the snow and fitting in crossfit into my schedule.
I know that running around the Charles Esplanade, it would be a 7 miler. 7 miles is a good mile marker for a shake out run. When I started running it was 9 degrees out. When I finished it was 19 degrees.
Around the Charles it was quiet and the sidewalks were still snow packed and icy. I wanted to mix up my normal loop around the Charles. I crossed the Massachusetts ave bridge and headed into Boston. I ran down Mass Ave to Roxbury. Then I ran down Columbia Ave towards the South End, downtown Boston, and the Boston Commons and Public Gardens. Snow and icy, everywhere. I was running very cautiously. I did see the ducks. I thought they would have hats and scarfs. To my disappointment, they did not.
From visiting the ducks and running down Charles street, I run over the bridge that put me back on the Esplande but on the Boston side. I ran on the Esplande and looped back to Cambridge, passing the Museum of Science and then back to MIT.
I completed 7 miles in 1:18:23. This was a good baseline for me. Also, my knee started to act up around mile 5.50. Clearly I wasn’t in the clear with my knee. I’ll have to revisit this pain.
Mixing it up and still moving and grooving
