50 degrees. 10k a.m. Saturday Beach Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
I can’t believe it’s been five days since my last run. I’m not sure how that happened? Doing crossfit? Teaching at 8 a.m., crappy and dangerous snow conditions? Oh wait, I’m trying to left my left knee rest and heal. It’s been annoying me, since I over did it at crossfit. Yes, I own it. So frustrating. I know if I want to run a strong race in April, May, and June. I need to let the knee rest and heal. Stretching and remembering my physical therapy exercises are important. These things take time and you can’t rush it.
This morning, I felt good and I wanted to test out my legs since it’s been a week. Plus it was 50 degrees at 6:30 a.m. I could not, not run. I ran along revere beach. I wanted to run 7 or 8 miles. I told myself. Go slow and calm the shit down.
I ran a 10k. I wasn’t going at my normal pace. My pace was around 11:13. I am usually around 10:30 pace. Around mile 4 is when I started to feel the tightness in my knee. At least I know for now, 6 miles might be as far as I can go. Tomorrow, SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. I signed up to run a 5 mile race. I’ll have another mile marker test.
Besides the knee issues, I felt good and strong. I just kept being steady. Slow, steady, and consistent. I wasn’t tired after the 10k. I do need to work on my fuel and nutrition.
Overall it was a good morning to run on the beach. Seeing the sunrise and all the people on the beach to see it too. It was a good way to start the morning.
