Saturday 5k plus extra two miler
COVID-19, ‘The Rona Era”
I don’t think I can wait until 8:45a.m. when Road to Wellness 5k free clinic starts. I wanted to run the route early before it got warmer and muggy. My plan was to run the course early because I have a lot of work to do today. Besides, there will not be any running on Sunday because Hurricane Henri is on his way tomorrow. Sunday will be rainy day.
I arrived at the Dimock center around 7:30a.m. I made sure this morning to have a good deep stretch before I ran at 8 a.m. Last week I ran the Black Excellence 5k in Lynn and I missed the training on Saturday. Today I planned to run the road to wellness 5k course.
I had a good slow and steady pace going until I saw my stalkers. We had a moment before I continued running. I loved running in the quiet morning and appreciating the beauty of Roxbury. When I finished the 5k, many of the 5k road to wellness crew started to show up. It was good to see and recap with everyone. Several of the men from BMR showed up today. I told them that I would run with them for a little bit before I had to go.
My little bit ended up being an extra two mile run. Today we learned how to “ change gears” while running. Adjusting your pace while run is helpful for a stronger run. I enjoy learning running tidbits.
