Saturday Marsh Run Through
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
This week felt like a year. Perhaps it was the first week back at school or the historic inauguration of a new president and vice president or shifting of teaching again and all the zoom meetings. Friday night was turn down, relax, and drink. My “other” made us a keto drink that consisted of Brandy, cream, almond milk, ice, and nutmeg. That was lovely. I also had the 90 plus, Lot 148 Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley from Sonoma County. The keto goodness continues with a wheel of soft cheese wrapped in bacon baked in the oven for ten minutes. Of course I was feeling good and happy.
This morning, I planned on a long run. When I got up there was snow on the ground and it was super windy cold at 25 degrees out. Do I make this a rest day or go back to bed. I took a 30 minute extra nap, but I got up again. The snow and cold were still there. I need to move. So I motivated myself to run a mile. Just do that. For today’s run I went to Belle Isle Marsh Reservation. I hadn’t been here in a long time. The marsh was covered with snow but it was a beautiful and quiet place to run. So I ran for a mile and then walked for .66 mile. Could I have done two miles, yes. It was around 8:15 when I started to run. As we know that is super late for me. I didn’t want to spend my entire morning running, then working. When I finished the run/walk, the sun started to come out. It was very dark and cloudy when I started. It was so cold, that when I took my glove off for a seconds, my fingers froze. Yup, this is winter and January.
1.66 miles of moving my body in the Marsh on a Saturday..check.
