Running over bridges

Running over bridges

This morning for my 5 a.m. run it wasn’t as bright as it has normally been, darkness was still hanging around a bit. The sign is there. Fall is near. The 10k run had some surprises this morning. Some of the luxury condos that are being built are finished and there are more luxury condos being built. My fuel for thought: How many luxury condos do we need in my neighborhood. How many people have luxury condo jobs, education, and resources?

As I continued, there seemed to be more people going to work, walking to the T and waiting for the bus. Another sign of the coming of fall.

Then I crossed over a bridge and thought about the struggle to “ cross over” to the other side. Despite feelings of grief, fear, and terror, people at some point have to take that journey to cross the bridge to get the “ other side”. Whether the other side is hope, peace, joy, there is something good on the other side. I reflected on my own experience of grief and the white supremist terrorist acts that have happened in the last three weeks in California, Texas, and Ohio.

Thoughts on a 10k run.
