Running on the other side of the tracks
First road to wellness running clinic in August. It feels as if Fall came to Summer today. I say yes…please…and thank you. I planned on getting up extra early to run 10 miles before the running clinic today. But that did not happened. Three glasses of Prosecco and a free strawberry Margarita out last night put breaks on the waking up early.
When I got up I drove to the Dimock Center for this week’s training clinic. I got there around 7 a.m.( clinic starts at 9a.m.) so I could get 6 miles in. For something new and different I decided to run along the southwest corridor. Part of it follows the orange line in Jamaica Plains(JP). It literally felt like I was running on the other side of the train tracks. This was a great greenway path. I saw bikers, walkers, and runners out this morning. I didn’t get 6 miles in but 4.13 miles. Which was fine because I would run a 5k with the running group.
Today was the first time we run on the course. Bonus..I didn’t get lost. The last couple of years training on the course I got lost. Now it’s an inside joke that apparently isn’t going away anytime soon. Ugh.
The walkers walked and the runners ran. We all supported each other crossing the finish line despite all the humidity and sweat. 7 miles for me got done with lots of motivation, laughs, and community sista love.
