Running before the Sun comes up in the ATL
It’s hot and hot. Oh wait, it’s hot. I’m in Atlanta this weekend for my cousin’s wedding. I planned on running 10 miles today to explore the ATL. By 5:19 a.m. it was already 73 degrees out. I knew I had to get in as many miles as I could before it got hot. I am truly a cold weather runner. That is a fact.
As I started my run in midtown and downtown Atlanta, it was just me, the quiet of the city, and all the homeless men that were out. It was truly disturbing to see the amount of homeless men in a sprawling city in which you can see the mass of education, wealth, and technology.
Unfortunately I saw men doing things that they probably do on a regular for survival. From sleeping in the park, searching the trash for food, drug deal going down, and a naked man relieving himself.
At the same time I saw the beauty in the city in the building, parks, and the historical spaces.
