7 miles in Sonoma
First time running in northern California. Overall, California, period. Since I like to explore while running, I ran 7 miles as I explored Sonoma. I found a bike/walk path which lead to a Sonoma State Historic Park and downtown Sonoma. As I was running, I saw more runners , walkers, and dog walkers. Everyone made sure to say Hi to me as I passed them. As I ran back to the neighborhood we are staying, there was a browning of the people and the businesses. There was a Latino male, who was running that smile and waved at me while he was running.
Fuel For thought: As I was running in Sonoma, I wondered if anyone would call the police on me for running while black. I know there aren't many, if any African Americans in Sonoma. I was careful not to get too close to people's homes.
There was a section on my 7 mile run where I saw the demographics change from white to non-white. I'm going to have to do some data searching on that.
It was good for my body and senses to get a feel of the landscape when I run since I'm not running on the east coast. Different time zone, pavement, air, breathing, muscle use...etc.......I think I did ok for 7 miles. Just have to get ready to double that by Sunday. :)
