Conference Run
Today is the first day of the Impact Conference. I get to run while in DC. In colder than Boston D.C. this morning. I’m just tickled that this conference has a 6:30 “ group run” scheduled in the program agenda. For me 6:30 a.m. is too late and do I want to run with people?
I got up earlier and ran 2 miles in the city to explore the lights. Then I ran back to the hotel to run with the group, why not? When I went back there was a man in running gear waiting to run. We chatted a bit as others( 4 more people) came to run. I introduced myself and told them about my running project. Of course I was the only black person running with the group- shocker. I was the only short and thick one running to boot. Once we established pace and direction we were off.
To be honest it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. We ran through the Smithsonian Museum, Capital Lincoln Memorial, and passed the white house, African American Museum, and the Veterans War Memorial. Along the way I talked with my fellow conference attendees. Our overall route was over 4 miles.
Yes I can run with people and it was ok
