Kicking off July by the Ohio
The start of the 7th month already. That means the 2017 is more than half way over. This morning am run is about exploring Louisville, Kentucky alone the banks of the Ohio River. Once again I'm on an historical running tour. As I ran, I saw state historical markers about slavery and the slave trade. Mostly the "Kentucky" version of events and the history of the Ohio River, which I didn't know and all the cities the Ohio has a hand in shaping.
The running tour continued with Bourbon Distillery, Louisville Slugger, Muhammad Ali Museum and more. What surprised meas I was running was the familiarity of the streets. Then I realized that I was running on part of the route of the Kentucky Derby half marathon. This was my state #14. I hadn't run here since 2016 yet, I remembered part of the route. I got excited and was reminiscing as I ran. Then I stopped myself because I could have kept running but I had to meet my family for our family reunion day outting.
I was running in the Chenault homestead state, voluntary; not being chased, not trying to find freedom. The irony of it all
