Saturday 11 miler long run

COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”

Last Saturday I was stuck in JFK and Charlotte airport trying to get back to Boston. Clearly, no long run happened. Today, it’s Easter Sunday and I need to get my miles in. I should have run 13 miles but I ran 11.33 miles around the Charles Esplanade. I wanted to mix things up a bit. This morning, it was a clear blue sky, slightly cool and sunny. There must have been some college rowing competition happening because the river was busy with rowers and spectators around the Charles.

I was a bit slow getting started. Which is good and the norm. I had a nice stride and rhythm. I could have kept running but I got a bit bored with my surroundings. There were lots of people out running and walking. For me, it was late in the morning. I didn’t start running until 7:45 a.m.. Around the Charles, it’s a bit flat and has some inclines. It’s steady, just like I felt. Acupuncture, hydrating, and getting rest is paying off.

There are 22 days until Big Sur Marathon. I have more running to do before I taper. It’s challenging to stay focus because my friends that are running Boston and London are tapering now. I have another two weeks before I do that. In the meantime, I need to keep running and doing strength training.
