Flying Pig Marathon 5th year celebration
COVID-19..aka The Rona Era
Five years ago today I did something that I never thought or even cared to do. I ran my first marathon ever. I ran what I thought would be my first and last marathon. I remember that day so well. Running the pig was my 41st birthday gift to myself. I remember feeling nervous of the unknown, worried, scared, excited, and ready. All the emotions. This was the biggest race I ran and there were so many people 40,000 people plus.
For Sundays a.m. run I ran more than 2.62 miles and less than 26.2 miles to celebrate the day. i still can’t believe I ran this marathon. Five years later I’ve run in 46 states, D. C., and the Paris Marathon. 5 years later I now run with a mask on and I’m the chapter ambassador for Black Girls Run, Boston chapter. In 5 years I’ve had my final four state races canceled. I’ve run all over the city of Boston.
In five years I’ve had physical therapy, an acupuncturist, and hoffa fat pad impingement. So much since the flying pig.
