Festive lights of running
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
It is the holiday season and lights of joy are needed. This morning I decided to run in the Boston Commons and Public Gardens. I knew there would be lights and it would be nice to run with my running lit with festive lights. My route took me from the South End, the public gardens and commons, backbay, mass ave- down to the Cambridge side and then towards the South End. All in 5.26 miles at 10:14 pace in 53 minutes.
I was just taken away by the beauty of the lights and the city backdrop. On my run I did see one black man running and he smiled and acknowledge me. Through my mask I said good morning. It was good to see another brown face in the cold morning twilight of boston. I was so happy running that I had on gloves and my headlight running through the public gardens. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the holiday bling of the ducks.
Slowly, as daylight started to come, I saw more people running and the construction folks walking to their on site jobs. Parents started to walk their children to school/daycare. The South End gets busy by 7a.m.
I shouldn’t have been in a hurry to get home and make my 7:30 VP call. 6 miles could have happened today but it didn’t. Maybe tomorrow?
