7.2 miles on 7/2 before 7a.m.
Since yesterday I went to the Cal-Zone and did a mile beach run, I couldn’t run 7.1 miles to kick off the month. So , today I ran 7.2 miles for 7/2, Because the 4th is on Thursday, I ran along the Charles as they set up for the Boston Pops 4th of July. I knew that is 7 miles around. I started at 5:30 a.m. and it was muggy. What I did notice, a lot of people. There were so many people running and riding their bikes all before 6:30a.m. I saw running groups, individuals, and pairs running. I even saw an Asian running group. What I did notice on my hour and 8 minute run, only one other black person running. It was another black woman. I probably past at least 50 runners on my route.
While I was running I thought about all that is happening today. The women’s final world cup- USA vs. England at 3pm and many protest around the country to oppose the concentration camps and the treatment of the people that are in them. At least in Boston there is a rally at noon and 4pm. I thought if I can’t go, I will at least donate money.
Yet, people are getting ready to celebrate “America”. How do we define Independance and Independance for whom from whom? There are human beings that are being treated worse than animals that are lock-up as we celebrate.
