First time beyond 13.1
Following my training plan, this weekend I was a 13.1 running Saturday. Last Saturday I didn’t run 15 miles, which was on the plan. So today, I ran 15.06 miles. It all worked out. My Friday date night plans got cancelled, which means I was refreshed and up for running 15 miles on Saturday instead of Sunday. Friday night, I took two of my colleagues out and had a couple of glasses of red wine and ate some bomb ass Mexican.
I still got up today and run 15. 06 miles. I mapped my route in Cambridge and downtown Boston. I even had a battle bottle attached to me because 15 miles is a long time to go without water.
Running this route I realized that my nutrition needs to improve. I felt tired and ran low on energy. There were fast moments and slow moments while running. Near the end, around mile 14, I was running an 11 min mile. My final time duration was 2:31:52 to run 15.06 miles. In the process my body was kind of shocked since I have not run past 13.1 miles since 2015.
Fuel for thought: On my route I ran along the Charles, on Common Ave, Boston College, Public garden, Mass Ave. I passed by planned parenthood and made sure to thank all 3 of the volunteers for their services.
The good thing with training is that I can gauge and assess myself to make adjustments. Since this was the first time past 13.1 I have to work on getting uncomfortable and making myself better.
