Super 5k..BAA and Hokie Saturday
Boston Marathon weekend Saturday!! Today was a power packed day. Plus it' s the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Here's the run down of the day
1. Glittery cheer squad for our BGR sole sistas that ran in the BAA 5k. Over 10,000 people signed up to run the 5k before Marathon Monday. I met up with my sole sistas so we could cheer and support our crew running. That was so much fun. I loved being a spectator. Besides seeing Big Bird, Easter Bunny, and Spider Man run, we saw the elite runners finish 3.1 miles in 14 minutes. LOL...yeah, it was crazy. Then we got to see women, men, and kids push through to finish. We called at their names, cheered, and smiled. Many of the runners, gave us waves and smiles of acknowledgment. It was a great time on a fabulous day.
2. After all of that, I walked to my car in the South End to drop off items before walking back over to the Boston Commons for the 3.2 miles for 32 who lost their lives 10 years ago on April 16, 2007. This wasnot a race for time or glory. It was for the 32. We ran 3 laps around the Boston Common which is 3.2 miles. We didn't start runninguntil after 1pm, which I hate because it was super hot and I was tired. You know what, it wasn't about me. I endured and did it with my fellow Hokies.
