7 miles to the Madonna

Last night I went to Logan Airport to show solidarity for Muslims, Immigrants, andRefugees.  It feels like we are beingblissed attack for human rights, civil rights, moral rights. The personal is truly political. This am run I wanted my running route to pass the Madonna. Sometimes you need a moment to think and pray. Little did I know that today's homily in Church would be about going to the mountain top and what that means. Running to the Madonna on am run meant going up a steep painful hill. The pain is very small in comparison to all that is going on.

From the Homily and Gospel today................

When Jesus went to the Mountain top, he came away with his mission statement........"Blessed are the poor in spirit......, Blessed are they who mourn....., Blessed are the meek....., Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness....., Blessed are the merciful...., Blessed are the clean of heart...., Blessed are the peacemakers....., Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness......Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me" Matthew 5:1-12

Today' Gospel and Homily was stop on. When you feel powerless you go to the mountaintop to see reality.

Martin Luther King Jr's last speech in Memphisin1968 was about going to the mountaintop and how we all have to come together to fight evil.
