State #5: Maine

State # 5: Maine.  Freeport Half Marathon, Freeport Maine. 

September 6, 2015 

Finished: 2:05:21. Placed 5th in 40-49 female age group. Placed 63 out of 126 runners. 

Highlights:

1. This was a quick drive and easy because of the labor day holiday weekend.
2. This was the smallest (population) of runners. 126 total. 
3. There were only 2 black women running this race.
4. Organizer of race kept telling me about his Vietnamese wife and her Vietnamese friends and how they are on Vietnamese time...ok
5. Hills but it wasn't bad and I didn't curse this time. 
6. I almost made the top 3 in my age division…so close.
7. Excited to hit the first milestone of this journey...State #5! Besides the outlets and LL Bean, I never really explored Freeport. This was my labor day fun.
8. I did notice a couple of African American people volunteering at the race. I know Maine has some parts of diversity.
