Dance Party Track Tuesday
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
This is the second to last track Tuesday of March. Training time feels like it is now flying by fast. This trackworkout is to get everyone ready for 20 miles or more this weekend. This is when we are at the peak of marathon training. It is 39 days until Big Sur- my marathon and 27 days until Boston. It’s getting real serious.
Today is also the first week back from Spring Break. I had to back my change bag and remember to leave early to shower and change. Walking into the Reggie, it was so good to see my crew. Last Tuesday I was in Iowa for spring break and missed them. Of course my team red posse made me happy. I saw several of them on Saturday for the bus trip to the start of the marathon for our 13.1 mile adventure.
Today we did a lot of running. We ran a 10min, 10k pace. Then we ran around the track for 8 laps. Then 4 laps at 5k, rest and repeat. I feel myself getting stronger. I was trying to stay at pace with Jordan, our pacer. She was running around a 9:40 pace but I passed her. I felt good and comfortable with my pace.
Also, there was someone else that had my same watch. I asked her if she knew how to work it because I don’t have the time to figure it all out. :).
As we ran, coach played team Red’s music selection, so it was like a dance party. BMR, Pioneers, and Trailblazhers were representing today. One of the men form BMR, just came back from the 51 mile rely walk, run, bike, from Selma to Montgomery. All of social media was blowing up their photos, videos, and messages from that race. Not to self, we (BGR-BOSTON) or just me, will have to do that next year. Talk about black excellence and doing all the black things….right there!
It was a fun and good track day.
