Storming the beach not Capitol Building
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
This was a much needed a.m. run. I had to let all of the crazy energy of Wednesday sweat off of me. Yesterday I was extremely tired. I didn’t do my 10k a.m. humpday run. I did manage some squats in the morning. Despite not running I was productive in the day. During my 1 pm meeting, one of my colleagues mention that the Capitol building was being taken over by a white mob. That made all of us in the meeting space pause. Earlier in the day, the results of the Georgia Senate elections were being announced. Warnock was already declared a winner. The first black Senator in Georgia. I have much to say about that. It was still too close to call Ossoff, the other democrat candidate.
We all, looked at our news sources and videos and saw something that we thought we would never see. This was a car wreck that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. I was texting and calling my D.C. folks, and other friends and family members. This terrorist mob was able to destroy and get away with things that if it was a crowd of black and brown folks they would have been tear gassed and had guns pointed at them.
I watched it all until the early morning. Hence, I had to get up this morning and run. I ran later than my normal time but yesterday was not normal. Thou, we knew this was coming. When you don’t call out racism and white supremacy, especially under president #45, this is what happens.
To calm my mind and spirit, I ran on Revere Beach. It was dark, peaceful, and quiet enough for me to run, think, and release. I’ve said this many times before. Running is not about my physical health( it’s an extra benefit), it’s for my emotional, spiritual, and mental health. I needed an outlet to let my thoughts and energy out.
I heard the sounds of the waves and my stalkers making noise. It was a calming force that I needed this morning and it made my run great. I felt strong and had a good stride. 6.06 miles , 1:02:52, 10:23 min/mil.
I’m good with that
