BYE WINTER
COVID-19 Era
This is the last day of winter. This is also Wednesday. The last time Wednesday = 10k a.m. humpday run was in 2019. I have to end this season with a 10k a.m. humpday run and I did! 6.16 miles for my first 10k a.m humpday run of 2020. It was still a bit dark out and I had my headlight on. Now, I’m not so pressed with running at 5 a.m. By the time I get up and move around, I left my house around 5:55 a.m. When I did this morning it was 40 degrees out, nice.
The volume of people that would normally be out was greatly reduced. There were people walking to the T and driving. I saw one man running in front of me, I passed him. I didn’t see any other runners until I was running back. I saw a black man and a white women running together. I hadn’t seen that in my neighborhood before( so noted).
When I was running back through the park a Latinx man looked at me, smiled and gave me the thumbs up. That really made me smile. I appreciate that he saw me. I think that was a good job and keep it up, even in these times.
When I pass people running, I get smiles and Hi and good morning. There is an acknowledgement that is happening in my morning running space.
This morning I surprised myself and ran 6 miles in 1 hour and 6 seconds. Getting better and better. My stride was strong. It was a good morning, a good running morning.
