Good to look up
It's Friday, Veteran's Day and we have the day off. This morning my am run could be longer since I didn't have to rush to work.
I thought about my grandfather who was in world world II and like so many other African-American soldiers, they fought for freedom and to destroy tyranny and when they came back to their own country they were treated like second and even third class citizens.
I thought about the vets who are homeless and have no support or help. I thought about the women in the military who still have to fight sexism in the military.
I have so much respect for the complex intersectionality of battles these women and men have to encounter while serving and protecting.
Having my thoughts I looked up for a second andjust took in the beauty of the sun coming up and a new day. I took pause to be thankful and appreciate what some many have done so I could have the privilege to look up and take in the morning beauty.
